Who am I?
Ok, lets get first things first – Hi, my name is Ryan Robitaille.
I’m no one special, really. I’m not a professional athelte. I’m not a famous person.
I’m just like you (well, provided you aren’t a famous pro athelte anyways!).
Lets put it this way:
I’m just a guy who figured out what works for him – and I care enough about people to try and share what I’ve learned. Anyone can do it – you just have to give it a try and have an open mind.
Don’t listen to the media, or commercials, or any of the current “common knowledge” out there regarding diet OR nutrition. Why? I’ll tell you why – because 95% of it is just plain WRONG. Which, if you ask me, is pretty sad.
We can build a fancy golf cart and drive it around on the moon, but we can’t come to a concensus on what we’re supposed to eat as human beings?
Some people out there HAVE figured it out, and continue to tweak it ever so slightly as new research comes to light. The problem is, it still considered pretty “unconventional” even though its been around for… well, most of our time on this planet as human beings. (More on that later)
But Ryan, you aren’t a Doctor, Nutritionist, Farmer, or even a professional basketball player! Why should I listen to you about anything?
True. I am none of those things. But, if you look back in time you’ll find that some of the oldest, best-selling diet books of all time were written by “regular people” too. They were just recounting their experiences losing weight that simply worked. In fact, one of the first “Diets” published was in 1862 by a obese London undertaker named William Banting who lost a pound a week by avoiding all sugary and starchy foods. He then published and distributed his “Letter on Corpulance“, which detailed one of the first “low-carb” diet crazes. In fact, it worked so well and was so popular that for many years it wasn’t referred to as “dieting”, it was called “Banting” after its author.
Besides, if all the Nurtitionists, Doctors, and USDA food lobbyists that are touting this low-fat, low-carlorie (low-enjoyment) method of eating that is the ‘common-knowledge’ in health in fitness these days, are so much more knowledgable – then whyis it that this country has only INCREASED in obesity, diabetes, and heart disease over the past 2 decades?
Hmmm, “somethings not stirrin’ the Kool Aid, Ace”.
Maybe something different is what we really need.
