Modern DNA Madness – Squandering our Genetic Gift of Health

In Dr. Michael R. Eades ‘Protein Power Lifeplan’ he has a chapter on exercise and fitness titled ‘Born to be fit’ – and I can’t help but think about that phrase all the time. We WERE born to be fit, yet we spend our entire lives squandering that very birthright – suppressing or strength, healing power, physical appearance, well being, and even lifespan.
Why do we do this? So we can eat toast and cinnamon buns?
How can you possibly know what your body (and brain) is capable of if you never give it the fuel and chance to do its job. Its like Michael Phelps at the Olympics – except with his ankles bounded together. Could he still swim? Sure. Would he still win? Doubtful. Its a total waste.
WE see people like that all the time wandering around this great country. They practically have it written all over their faces and plastered on the protruding belly of their humorously ironic T-shirts – it should say “I am operating at 15% of my potential”.
Why? Are they just THAT lazy? Are they masochists and WANT to be unhappy?
I’m willing to bet that the answer to both questions is NO.
What if I told you that the way we eat – is virtually NOTHING like our bodies were designed to operate optimally on. Would you believe me? The fact that our systems can tolerate it as well as they do attests to the very… Hey… Wait a minute? We don’t handle it well at all! 6 year old kids getting type 2 diabetes, people weighing 900 lbs and can’t get out of bed, and obesity has skyrocketed in the past 30 years! What the hell is going on here?
Well, I’ll tell you. Our metabolism as a society is seriously damaged. This due in LARGE part by our diet – that’s right, we’re killing ourselves slowly. But hold on a second… we’re eating just what they told us to eat, aren’t we? The answer is undoubtedly ‘yes’.
Look at the famous “Food Pyramid” – a diet so high in starches and flour products (from refined grains – something that humans were never really meant to consume, by the way) that its a wonder we aren’t ALL obese (we’re certainly trying though).
The key to all of this? Blood sugar regulation. Its all about the Insulin.
Now, when I say ‘insulin’ don’t start picturing diabetes meds or blood sugar meters just yet. Insulin is one of the most powerful metabolic hormones produced by the human body, and can keep your body humming along smoothly, or it can ravage your system – setting you up for everything from obesity, to diabetes, to cancer. You see, its the very thing in charge of storing fat or buring fat – and guess what mode its always in for 95% of people? You guessed right.
How do we control our insulin? Thats the good thing. Its probably one of the only internal hormones that we can control directly through diet – meaning, each of us holds the key to be healthy. Yet we choose not to. its almost as if “they” don’t want us healthy?
Hmmm, maybe its more profitable treating sick and overweight people than not having to treat healthy attractive people? {Shrug}
Over the next few days – not only am I going to outline SIMPLE and EASY ways to change your diet to ensure that you’re wringing the most out of your personal genetic code (READ: be as fit and healthy as you possibly can be), but I’m also going to explain WHY it works the way it does and try and dispell lots of bad information about low-carb diets and our bodies in general.
Sound good? Well then get ready, and lets go down the rabbit hole…

In Dr. Michael R. Eades ‘Protein Power Lifeplan’ there is a chapter on exercise and fitness titled ‘Born to be fit‘ – and I can’t help but think about that phrase all the time. Why? Because he’s right. We WERE born to be fit, yet somehow we spend our entire lives squandering that very birthright – suppressing our strength, healing power, physical appearance, well being, and even lifespan.

Are they masochists and WANT to be unhappy and unhealthy?

I’m willing to bet that the answer to both questions is a big fat NO.

What if I told you that the way we eat – is virtually NOTHING like our bodies were designed to operate optimally on. Would you believe me? Well, I’ll tell you. Our metabolism as a society is seriously damaged. This due in LARGE part by our diet – that’s right, we’re killing ourselves slowly with forks and spoons. But hold on a second… we’re eating just what they told us to eat, aren’t we? Oddly enough, the answer is undoubtedly ‘yes’.

Granted people do tend to “over consume”, but they aren’t too far off the nutritional “target” for the nation. Look at the famous “Food Pyramid” – a diet so high in starches and flour products (from refined grains – something that humans were never really meant to consume, by the way) that its a wonder we aren’t ALL obese (we’re certainly trying though).

Its all about the Insulin, Baby.
